Scientific Fact 7

                                           How To Classify Element?

Element on Earth are as many as ±110 elements. Every element has unique atomic structure which determines their chemical properties. Eighty percent of all element are metals.

In 1869 a Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleyev devised a way to arrange elements so that their man properties can be seen at once. This method developed into periodical table used now. Periodical table arranges elements in rows according to atomic numbers and in columns according similarity in chemical properties.

Matter

In the last post, I discussed the particles that make up matter, now we will discuss the matter in detail

Matters can be found in daily life around you. You can use matters fulfil you needs. When hungry you need food, when thirsty you need water. You also need dirt, rocks or sand to building house.

Soil, rocks, paraffin, gasoline, wood, cloth, and your own body and also various materials you see everyday are matter. The various forms of matters have one similarity, which is having mass and occupying space. So, matters are everything which has mass and volume (occupying space).

All matters in nature will experience change, nothing is eternal. Matter will experience change in mass, volume and form, even change to another matter. For example, water evaporates , wood burns into ashes, corpse change into dirt, and fruits root. Therefore, the only thing that eternal in only the one and only God. Matter is classified into 2 large groups, which are pure substance or single substance and mixture.

Scientific Fact 4

                                       Energy Saving Charger

Do you know about charger? Charger is tool usually utilized to charge battery in mobile phone. You are certainly familiar with this equipment. Mobile phone battery charger can utilize wind energy from a fan. This equipment is discovered by your friend from Solo, Central Java. Using this equipment, battery can be recharged without electrical force. The work procedure is relative easy. A propeller is connected to a dynamo will rotate axle. When propeller is rotating, axle and dynamo will rotate too. Therefore, battery will be recharged from electrical energy resulted.

That's interesting is not it, they can create a tool, should we not be? we certainly can if there is effort and desire. Keep the spirit of work!

Energy

You can do your activity if you have energy. Beside that, horse can attract cart because the horse has energy. Energy is defined as ability to perform work. Energy unit in International Standard is Joule (J). The other unit for energy is calorie, 1 joule = 0.24 calorie.

Energy has several forms. The forms of energy can alter. How this happen? concern the following explanation.

1. Energy Form
Viewed from the source, energy has various forms. The forms of energy are potential energy, kinetic energy chemical energy, heat energy, electrical energy, sound energy, nuclear energy and radiation energy. Explanation of the energy forms as follow.

a.  Potential energy
Potential energy is energy contained in motionless object. This energy also called idle energy. For

Scientific Fact 3

                                                            Theory of Atom
Democritus (460 BC-370 BC)

Previously I've discussed the particles matter about atom. This time I will discuss the theory of the atomic scientists. They argue with each other until finally getting the correct conclusion, here is the opinion of the scientists.

In the 4th century BC a Greek philosopher named Democritus proposed the opinion that "all matter can be broken into small particles that can not be broken again. Such particles called atoms" (from the a = no and Tomos = divided). So, atom is the smallest part of a substance that can not be divided up again.

Particle Matter 3

                                Molecule

You have known that smallest piece of any substance that can't be subdivided is called atom. You also known that atom can be charged. Now, what will be happen to atom if incorporated in certain grup?

The most elements in the world aren't pure elements, but a unification of other elements, either similiar or not similiar. The unification of some elements establishes either mixtures or compound. The smallest piece of compound is called molecule. The smallest unit of an element is called atom. Molecules are neutral particles consisting of two or more atoms, both similar or different (not similar).molecule can be divided into two, namely monatomic molecules and polyatomic molecules.

Particle Matter 2

                                        Ion

You have understood that there area charged particle in atom. Some particles types in atom also have different electron is negative and proton is positive, while neutron is neutral. But, atom will obtain or loss electron if incorporated with the other atoms. This cause the atom has positive or negative charged. The charged atom is called ion. So, ion is atom or atom cluster containing electrical charge. Process of ion establishment is called ionization. If an atom loss electron , the atom will be positive. The atom like this called terion atom.

Generally, compound consist of molecules. For example, sugar compound is composed of sugar molecules. But ,there are compounds composed of ions. A compound composed of ions called ion compound, for example common salt. Common salt if dissolved in water will be subdivided to form ion, namely sodium ion with positive charge (Na+) and chloride ion with negative charge (Cl-). Positive ions called Cation and negative ions called Anion. Cation is usually derives from metal element, for example Silver (Ag+) and Copper (Cu2+). Anion derived from no-metal element, for example Iodine (I-) and Sulphur (S2-).
